Children’s Art Exhibition & Awards
Peninsula Arts caters for all ages and we offer a thriving children’s art program called Upstart, that aims to nurture creativity and develop imagination while imparting the basics of visual art.
Our dynamic and innovative children’s tutor Maxine Pritchard has worked hard to present an exciting exhibition of highly creative artworks produced by her young students. Exhibiting one’s artwork is an important component of learning to be an artist and the Spring Art Show provides an ideal opportunity for children to partake in a formal exhibition.
Maxine organised a special opening at the studios for the children’s show, which was well attended by the excited artists themselves, siblings, parents and grandparents. The opening addresses delivered by Peninsula Arts Vice-president Merril Darling and Art Show Coordinator Lis deDeugd were perfectly pitched to the audience. An award ceremony followed in which children were presented with certificates and gifts to acknowledge their artistic efforts through the year. Refreshments and a much-awaited viewing of their exhibition followed.
As well as relishing the chance to show off their own work the children, along with their adult guests, enjoyed a sneak preview of the adult art exhibition, also a great learning experience for the young artists.
Well done kids!
