Veronica Cunningham
Veronica enjoys painting as a hobby and is honoured to be a member and Committee Member of Peninsula Arts Society Inc (PAS). She has served as Class Secretary from 2023, and Vice President from 2024.
Veronica particularly loves painting with oil paint because of the richness of texture and depth of colour that is achieved. Her subject matter reflects her appreciation and love of birds, flowers and beach scenes around the Mornington Penininsula.
Veronica has been artistic in many ways during her life, enjoying many different creative activities and hobbies including sewing, knitting and crochet.
She only returned to painting a few years ago in retirement, after bringing up a family and pursuing a busy career life. She started as a General Nurse at St Vincents Hospital, then worked as a Creative Director with Spotlight, and later in Lincraft’s marketing departments.
Veronica began painting again in 2019-20 at PAS, in a beginner’s oil painting class with Malcolm Beattie.Then COVID lockdown hit and no painting at all was done.
In 2022, after travelling around outback Australia post COVID, Veronica’s passion for painting was reignited, inspired especially by Australian birds, native flora and particularly the beach close to her home in Chelsea.
Doing further classes with PAS tutors Bill Caldwell, Claire Spring, Craig Penny, Maria Radun and Meredith Forster, Veronica feels that her art journey is just beginning and she is learning all the time.
Veronica says she is honoured and humbled to be displaying some of her paintings in the PAS Foyer Gallery.
