Glenn Hoyle

Born in Lancashire, England (1951) Glenn Hoyle always loved to draw and paint and at the age of fifteen he enrolled at the Rochadale College of Art to study art from 1966 to 1969. After working as a commercial artist, he travelled extensively throughout Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and arrived on the shores of Australia in the mid seventies for a working holiday.

Eventually in 1981 he returned to live in Melbourne permanently. It was here that Glenn first thought about painting full time. He joined the Peninsula Art Society, entered art shows and exhibited in local galleries. His first solo exhibition was a great success with every painting being sold.

Tutoring

Since 1989 Glenn has worked as a professional artist and is a much sought after tutor. Always willing to pass on his knowledge of art to others, Glenn has successfully conducted art classes at his studio since 1989 and is currently teaching oils and acrylics at the Peninsula Art Society. He conducts workshops and demonstrations throughout Victoria.

Awards & Affiliations

Glenn has won over 75 awards including two at the prestigious Camberwell Art Show in 2008 and 2011. His paintings are keenly sought-after and represented in private collections throughout Australia and overseas.Glenn’s work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions and group shows. He has won many painting awards and is a member of the Victorian Artists Society, The Sherbrooke Art Society, The Peninsula Art Society and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.

Glenn’s art

Working in oils, acrylics, watercolour and pastels, Glenn strives to capture the effect of light on the treasured land and coastline of Australia. Glen’s love of horses is reflected in many of his paintings, where scenes of rural Australia are enhanced by depictions of equine beauty. Glenn also enjoys creating ultra realistic still life works and evocative scenes from his travels.
