Foyer Gallery Exhibition – Margaret Rees

July 2022

Artist Margaret Rees is a very keen member of Peninsula Arts and has attended classes and demonstrations by many of our wonderful tutors over the years. As they pass through the foyer on their way to classes and studio group sessions, Margaret’s fellow members have been taking a long pause to admire her detailed, realistic works.

In her home studio, Margaret paints mostly in oils and is inspired by natural environment of the Mornington Peninsula. She is now known for her magical cow portraits, several of which are on display at Peninsula Arts. Margaret also paints birds, flowers, beach scenes, dogs and children. Her delightful portrait of children on the beach has stopped many viewers in their tracks over the last few weeks!

Margaret grew up in Fremantle WA, moved to NSW with her husband, and then landed in Melbourne. She has thrived in a series of professional and business roles, and as a parent and proud grandparent.

Simultaneously, Margaret has always been active in creative pursuits. She began her latest exciting art journey in 2006 under the watchful eye of friend and tutor Cesar Sanchez at his private studio in Bittern. She says, “I consider myself very fortunate to have been trained by Cesar, to receive so much from his lifetime of painting experience and very extensive art knowledge”.
